Check Movie ratings and reviews in Google Chrome

One of the best applications for Facebook, iPhone and iPod touch, Flixster Movies, is now accessible in Google Chrome. You can now check the ratings and reviews of all movies, upcoming and released, without opening flixster. Nowadays, you cannot just go and watch a movie without checking its reviews and ratings.

First of all, install Flixster extension for Chrome.

Once installed, a small icon will appear in your Google Chrome taskbar.

Click on the flixster button in your taskbar and it will show give you information of the most popular movies running at the moment. You can also check the movies reviews by people and the critics along with the showtimes and the movie trailer.

You can also check which movies are going to be released in the coming few days.

If you are unable to watch a good movie in cinema, than watching it on camera print is not a really good experience, trust me. So this application also has a feature which tells you about the availability of DVD print of different movies.

Now go to Tools > Extensions and open Flixster movies options. You can enter your postal code in the form and it will show you movies which are released in your area.

If you are a movies fan, than this is a must have extension for you.

For Chrome: Limit The Amount Of Time Per Day On a Website With StayFocusd

A while back I heard of a program which let parent allot a fixed amount of time for the computer to stay logged in via a particular username. Alternatively parents could set the amount of time spent on the internet by the computer. What these measures ensured was that these concerned parents’ children do not end up wasting a lot of time on the computer/internet; the time saved on needless browsing and chatting could be utilized on homework or the great outdoors.

That program made me wonder if there were any such restrictions I could impose on myself to save time which I frequently waste on Facebook and Digg. If there were such a way then not only I but countless other computer users could benefit from it. We turn on our computers with the intention to work but end up spending hours on the internet. There should be a tool that helps us fight the addictive social networking websites and other time wasting sites. And upon searching for it, I found this tool – it is called StayFocusd.

StayFocusd is an extension for Google Chrome that lets us set specific times for particular website. This how the icon looks

Say we are browsing Facebook and we want to set the time we spent on the site. With Facebook open, we click on the extension’s icon in the Address Bar:

In the resultant menu that appears we can set the time for the site, or block/allow the site completely.

We can also access the ADVANCED options for the extension and choose to block on certain pages of a website.

iPhone 4G Pictures Leaked

In the past few months, we have seen many fake prototypes claiming to be the next iPhone 4G. Recently, some new photos of the so called iPhone 4G has leaked out via an internet forum. Well, by looking at the pictures, we cannot be sure whether it’s the real iPhone 4G or not but I don’t think these are real.

It looks unrealistic as there are no specs revealed and the pictures are taken is some deserted warehouse. If it was real iPhone 4G, than the place of the photo shoot would have been much better and Apple would have given some insights about the specs.

To cater to a wider Indian audience five new venues have been added (Cuttack, Nagpur, Vishakhapatnam, Ahmedabad, and Dharamsala).

iPhone 4.0 Firmware to Support Multi-tasking

One of the major complaints that all users have is lack of multi-tasking. At the moment, iPhone OS does not allow you to run more than one third party application in th backgroung. Current iPhone 3.xx firmware is a fully functional multi-tasking operating system. But it restricts users from running multiple applications simultaneously other than the ones bundled with the system by Apple. So if you have jailbroken your iPhone, you might have experienced that iPhone can support multi-tasking. And no one has any clue why Apple restricts multi-tasking.

According to a wave of rumours, Apple will be introducing the multi-tasking support for iPhone in the next firmware release that will finally allow third party applications to run concurrently and in the background. According to AppleInsider, company has found a solution that can successfully enable multi-tasking on the iPhone OS.

The most critical issue related to this matter is whether the technology will be able to optimize system resources and battery life? Because if they enable multi-tasking, the device will use more system resources and battery, and I don’t think iPhone’s processor would be able to handle that load, or could it, with an all new powerful CPU in the iPhone 4G?

Opera has launched the beta version of Opera Mini 5 Beta for all android based phones. Speed up restoring sessions in Firefox

Firefox is one of the best browsers on the internet but the problem arises when you open multiple tabs in Firefox. Opening multiple can eat up a lot of memory and may cause your browser to crash. So, when you open Firefox afterwards, it takes some time to load up the tabs and will hog your system resources.

I came across a great addon, BarTab, which can speed up Firefox by loading the active tabs while the others will remain, unloaded unless we visit them. This will prevent Firefox from eating the system resources thus making it load faster when you load it after a crash or a new session.

Once installed, go to Tools > Addons and go to Bartab options.

You can select the settings of what should BarTab do after you close your browser or if it crashes. You can change the settings to “When restoring Firefox from a previous session” from firefox default to “put them on my bar tab”. This will load only the active tab to make sure Firefox does not hog your system resources and loading it faster.

What I think that BarTab is a very handy tool for all the Firefox users who want to speed up the loading time of Firefox and prevent it from eating up your system resources.

Google Apps Marketplace launched

Today at the Google’s Campfire One event at the company’s headquarters in Mountain View, Google has launched Google Apps MarketPlace. The new Google Apps MarketPlace offers products and services designed for Google users, including installable apps that integrate directly with Google Apps. Installable apps are easy to use because they include single sign-on, Google’s universal navigation, and some even include features that integrate with your domain’s data.

It will cost developers $100 to join Google Apps Marketplace as a seller. 20% of the revenue will go to Google compared with other app stores which charge 30% including Apple iPhone Apps Store. Almost 50 partners have joined the program which include Aviary, Intuit, Expensify and many others.

iPhone OS 3.2 SDK Beta 4 Released

Apple has released another update to iPhone OS 3.2 SDK for iPad offering developer to create new application for iPad. The new update include some API improvements and some bug fixes to make sure that everything is in order before the final version is released.
