Abstractfonts is definitely one of the biggest websites out there that offers free fonts for it’s visitors.  It has a good record of 1 million unique downloads every month. Currently they are offering over 11,000 free fonts. Each of the fonts has a customizable string preview, character map, member comments, similar fonts as well as a font info tab with all kinds of helpful information about the font. Share a Folder Easily in Windows Vista

Posted on October 11th, 2008 in Tips and Tricks | No Comments »

If you just shifted from Windows Xp from Vista, then you might find Vista a bit annoying in terms of network and folder sharing. I recently found out that sharing folder in Vista is as easy as it was in XP. Now, if you want to share folders the way you used to share in Windows Xp, right click on the folder which you want to share and click properties.

Share a Folder

Now choose the Advanced Sharing button.

Now check the box “Share this folder” and chose a share name which will be accessible from \\computer\foldername for example.

Share a Folder

You can even set permissions if you want to allow access to a particular user. Easy isnt it…

Set Priorities for your Gmail Label tags

Posted on October 11th, 2008 in Tips and Tricks | No Comments »

Google has recently launched Advanced IMAP Controls in Gmail Labs. A feature that allows users to fine-tune the behavior of the Internet Message Access Protocol technology or [IMAP] that outside e-mail services or software can use to access Gmail accounts.

Now you have the option to limit which of your mail labels are exposed as folders to outside e-mail clients to improve performance. After enabling the add-on, you’ll find two categories of options:

1.  Labels tab will let  you control which labels to show up in your email client which includes built-in labels like Drafts, All Mail, Spam or Trash.

2. The Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab that lets you turn off auto-expunge.

The IMAP protocol allows messages to be marked for deletion. It auto-expunges or deletes the message from the folder right away. If you simply want the two-stage delete process, after you’ve enabled this Lab, just select ‘Do not automatically expunge messages’ under the ‘Forwarding and POP/IMAP’ tab in Settings

If a message is removed from the inbox Gmail will still keep it in “All Mail” . You can always instruct google to delete the message or throw it in the trash

I loved the “Stickies” feature in my Vista. I’ve got XP on my PC and I was just browsing through the internet to check out if they have Stickies for Windows as well. Then I came across a website that offers the same product for windows and it’s for free.

Most of you already know that Stickies can play a really important role in reminding you of your daily plans. It’s really simple to use and got variety of features. It’s

  • Customizable
  • Easy To Use
  • Convenient
  • Intuitive
  • Standards Compliant
  • Multi-Computer Synchronizable

Once installed simpy press Ctrl+Shift+N at any time to create a sticky note right under your mouse cursor. You can always customize stickes to your own needs. You can make sticky notes behave like normal windows, or you can make them remain “floating” above all of the windows on your desktop so they are always visible.

Are you ready to put yellow sticky notes on your Windows desktop, much like the popular Mac OS application?
