Youtube Support 4k Video Resolution

YouTube is changing the concept of video streaming as the world knew it by bringing in innovative technologies right at the fingertips of its users. First they launched the Beta version of their newest TV service, Leanback which would enable the users to watch YouTube videos right on their home TV screens. This was followed by a total revamp of the mobile website of YouTube which will see mobile users getting almost the same YouTube experience as the desktop users. And now, finally, YouTube brings to its users the greatest surprise; a video quality better than 1080p HD!

As the YouTube Blog updated today, folks there announced that at the VidCon 2010 Conference today, YouTube will be bringing support for videos shot in 4K resolutions. To be precise, the 4K video resolution measures to be 4096 x 3072. This makes YouTube the only video streaming service in the world to have support of videos being shot at as low as 360p to as high as 4096p resolutions. It is worth remembering here as well that YouTube also announced support for 1080p HD format earlier. The 4K resolution is nearly 4 times that of the 1080p resolution and provides the best possible video quality.

YouTube has also setup a playlist which has in it some great new videos shot at 4K resolutions. Users can access this playlist here and watch for themselves the magic of 4096p videos! Obviously, one needs an uber-speed internet connection to watch such a high quality video (these videos don’t come below 100MBs).

Let’s keep our fingers crossed and see what YouTube has to offer next in the line.
