Google dropping support for Internet Explorer 6
Everyone knows that in the past few years, internet has evolved from simple text pages to rich, interactive applications including video and voice. The features that were available 5 years ago are different and much outdated then the ones being offered now and for that reason every browser has been updated to keep up with the variety of advance features offered by websites. For that reason, Google along with many other web developers have announced that it will be dropping support for outdated softwares including Internet Explorer 6. Most of the developers have already dropped support for Internet Explorer 6.
We all know that Internet Explorer 6 is one of the most hated browser because of all the security flaws and outdated features. IE6 fails at running some of the features offered by the web technologies today and as a result, users cannot use all the features offered by any website. Even, users are advised to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 because it contains bug fixes and security issues that were present in Internet Explorer 6.
For that reason, Official Google Blog stated that from March 1 it would be dropping support for outdated softwares like Internet Explorer 6 and a few others starting with Google Docs and Google sites. Google says that users have many choices of advance web browsers which are up to date with the current web technologies which include Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer 8. It is started the process from 1st March so users have time to switch to other, more advanced web browsers. According to Google, “2010 is going to be a great year for Google Apps and we want to ensure that everyone can make the most of what we are developing. Please take the time to switch your organization to the most up-to-date browsers available.”
