Download/Watch Youtube Videos on your iPod
There was a time when people use to use regular Mp3 players to enjoy their music. Apple has taken over the whole concept of such devices by introducing their iPods.
To make it even more fun and useful, tons of companies releases new iPod application every now and then. I’ve discovered a new app today that allows you to add Youtube videos to your iPod known as Floola.
Floola is free of cost iPod application which works just like any other music manager for iPod. It’s a standalone application that can be run directly from your iPod and needs no installation under Linux , Mac OS X and Windows.
To get started you will need to download the Linux binary of Floola from their download page. Unpack the downloaded file with the command tar xvzf Floola-linex.tar.gz which will create a new directory called Floola-Linex.
Now move into that new directory and, as the root user, issue the command cp Floola /usr/bin/. Copying the Floola binary into /usr/bin will allow Floola to be run globally.
Once you have mounted your iPod you can start using Floola. After configuring your iPod, Floola will see the iPod and list of all data available. To get the video to your iPod you will need fmpeg installed in order to handle the conversion. Fmpeg can be installed by either doing a search for fmpeg in your Add/Remove Software utility or you can issue a command similar to urpmi fmpeg (for Mandriva) or apt-get install fmpeg (for Ubuntu.)
After insatlling fmpeg, go to the Item menu and select ADD from web. Enter Youtube URL when a new window opens that looks like the image below.

After listing down the video from web window, select the video and click OK. It will start the whole process. Wait till the video gets downloaded and converted. It may take a while (depends on the speed of your machine”
Now that video is converted, a new window will open where you will need to click the Add button so that the video is actually added in your iPod. Clicking the “Add” button will transfer the video. Close Floola and unmount your iPod. You’re now ready to enjoy your Youtube video.

Floola supports almost all features offered by iPods including photos, artwork, podcasts and smart playlists!
