Download and Convert Videos from Youtube and Other Sites
I earlier wrote about how you can download any video off the internet. I recently found out about this new add-on which I think is much better than any of those websites because it not only let you download videos from the internet but it also allows you to convert them to many different formats.
To get started with this you need to download the Download Helper and install the add-on in Firefox.
After installing the addon, you will see a small icon one the side of your address bar.

As you can see its black but when you will visit any site like youtube, the icon change colour which tells you that this page contains media that Download Helper can download.
Click on that icon and you will see a dropdown menu and click Videoname.flv and it will ask you where you want to save your video. Select the desired path and click ok and it will start downloading the video. The flv quality is really poor but you can configure Download Helper to download videos and convert it to other formats. To do that right click on the download Helper icon and go to Preferences.

Click Conversion in the Preferences window and check the Conversion Enabled checkbox.

Then you have to set a new rule. So click on the New Rule button. A new conversion rule window will open up.

Under Input, it says Files with Extension, Change it to All. And under output, change to the format to which you prefer and click Ok. And you will see the rule appaer in the Conversion Window.
Now just open any Video on youtube or any other online streaming site and click the Download Helper icon and Download. And it will automatically download the converted file.
