Utorrent is the best torrent downloading software right now and the one which gives users the maximum speed. But there are some tweaks that can increase the download speed in utorrent which many people dont know and as a result they dont get the speed they should be getting in utorrent.

Lets start the tutorial :

1. First of all if you dont have utorrent, download it from here. After installing, go to Options > Speed Guide. There Select the connection type and select the connection closest to you and Click Use Selected Settings. This is a basic speed guide.

2. Now if you want to do it manually, go to Preferences > Options > Connections. Now choose the post for incoming connections. You can use a random port. I use this when i am using a router 45682. Otherwise Check randomize Port each time utorrent starts. That works pretty well. Regarding the Proxy Server, if you do have a proxy set up, use this correctly. I dont use any proxy server so i dont use this option. Next comes the Global Bandwidth Limiting. Set the download and upload rate that you want to set. I am using 0 because i mostly put downloads on night when i am sleeping .

3. Now go to the BitTorrent tab. Now, the Global Number of Maximum connections should not be set too low because it will limit the number of connections made to torrents and should be kept too high as it will slow down your internet and cause trouble while browsing the internet. So play with it and set it to the number which works good and doesnt choke your bandwidth. Check the things that are shown in the image below. Now comes the Protocol Encryption, you should enable this as it increases speed in many cases and if you think that your ISP is throttling ports (i.e. you are getting 0-10kb/s) set this to FORCED.

4. Now click the Queueing tab and this section settings depends on user preferences. I am using the following settings and you can use them as well if you want to.

Leave everything in the Advanced tab but make sure that net.max_halfopen>50. Do not change this value.

Try these things and tell me whether it worked for you or not because it did worked for me.
