Create a Shutdown and Restart Icon on Your Desktop

Posted on July 29th, 2008 in Tips and Tricks | 2 Comments »

In Windows Xp, you can create a one click Shutdown and restart icon on your desktop which can do the specific functions with just one click. Sometimes this happens that you are in a hurry and have to shutdown your computer, that is the time when you hate to first go to start menu click turn off and then again shutdown. But with this icon just click it and your computer will shutdown.

Creating a Shutdown Icon:

1. First of all go to your desktop and Right Click > New > Shortcut. It will open up a Dialog Box where you have to give the location of the shortcut there. Just browse to C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe or the drive in which you installed windows. Dont click next yet because you have to add a few things to it.

Type -s -t 0 at the end of the line. “-s” is used to shutdown the computer otherwise it will just logout the current user and “-t 0″ is to make it happen immediately otherwise it will take around 30 seconds to shutdown. And then click Next.

And give it a name like Shutdown or whatever you want to give it and click Finish. This will create a shutdown button and you can customize it by Right clicking on the icon then go to its Properties and click on Change Icon. Choose the icon you want to and you are done with creating the Shutdown Icon for your Desktop.

Posted on July 28th, 2008 in Tips and Tricks | 1 Comment »

Making a torrent file is one of the easiest things to do. For that you need these things, uTorrent, the file which you want to share and a tracker. I will be using demonoid tracker for this torrent and Flock Browser setup just to show you how to make torrent file in uTorrent. You can use any tracker you want like thepiratebay or any other.

First of all, open uTorrent. Go to File > Create New Torrent

After you click Create New Torrent, a new dialog box will appear. Click add Directory and give the path of the folder you want to have in the torrent. In my case i used the flock browser. Also give the tracker URL which you can find on tracker site where you upload your torrent and also check Start Seeding.

How to Watch Youtube Videos in HD Quality

Posted on July 27th, 2008 in Tips and Tricks | 3 Comments »

If you are a regular user of Youtube, then you might have noticed that the quality of videos on Youtube is simply not good at all but you can view them in semi-High Defination or HD Quality.

It is really easy and simple, just follow the steps and enjoy.

1. Open the Video that you want to view on youtube.

2. Enter &fmt=18 at the end of the url of the video as shown below.

After this just let the video stream and watch it in High or semi-High Defination. &fmt=18 might not work for some people but they can try &fmt=6 But &fmt=18 works most of the times so you dont have to worry. Just watch and Enjoy!!
