Flip 3D is a new feature in Windows Vista which give you a more comprehensive view of your open windows, helping you sidestep chaos even as you juggle myriad open files and programs and making it easier for users to identify the window in a graceful three-dimensional view.

It may make your Computer slow so disabling it will increase the speed of your pc. If you use Alt+Tab to switch between windows and think that this feature is not at all good for you, then you can disable it. Here is how you can disable it :

1. Click Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools.

2. Then click Group Security Policy.

3. Find Computer Configuration on the left hand side.

4. Expand Computer Configuration and find Administrative Templates.

5. Once inside Administrative Templates, Go to Windows Components -> Desktop Window Manager and from there enable Do not allow flip3d invocation.

Alternatively, you can disable it in another way as well.

1. Click Start and Type gpedit.msc in the search bar to run the Local Group Policy Editor.

2. Expand Computer Configuration.

3. Expand Administrative Templates.

4. Expand Windows Components.

5. Select Desktop Window Manager and enable Do not allow flip3d invocation.

Actually this is the same thing as well you are just accessing them in 2 different ways.

Finally you can disable it with the help of a registry entry as well. For that either you can download this registry file and run it and it will enable/disable Flip 3D for you.

EnableDisableFlip3D

Just download the file and run DisableFlip3D.reg. After modifying the registry, restart Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service by using Services module in Administrator Tools of Control Panel. You can run alternative run command prompt and enter the following commands one by one to restart the desktop window manager service.

net stop uxsms
net start uxsms

If you change your mind and want to enable Flip 3D later, simply run the EnableFlip3D.reg file inside EnableDisableFlip3D and restart the desktop window manager service the same way.
