With this new firmware, you can install all the cool new applications for iPhone. The version is available for download with iTunes for the owners of the original iPhone and is of 225 mb. For iPod Touch users, it costs $9.95. The new firmware of iPhone has alot of new features for the original iPhone users.

The new iPhone software includes a contract search that allows users to enter a name and instantly find who they’re looking for. Full iWork document support lets users view Pages, Numbers, and Keynote documents. Apple also will offer full support for Microsoft Office documents, adding PowerPoint presentation viewing to the Word and Excel viewing already available. And turning the iPhone into landscape mode will convert the Calculator application into a scientific calculator. Apart from that the Parental control features in the update will allow parents to turn off explicit content, access to YouTube, the iTunes Store Wi-Fi Music Store, and the App Store, which was also introduced today.

When the install of iPhone 2.0 firmware finishes, iTunes tries to connect to Apple’s remote iTunes servers and authorized a reactivation of the phones. And those servers are already pounded with thousands of request for the iPhone 3G’s that are being activated all over the world.
