How to Log on to Windows XP if You Forgot Your Password

Everyone forget his/her password. Its really common even i forgot my passwords many times. It can be really frustrating but its possible to reset your password. There is a way to access Windows through Administrator rights if you have a password on your user account and cant remember that password. When you install Windows XP, it creates a default account called “Administrator” and by default this account is not password protected. There are two ways actually to reset your password one using safe mode and one simple using the administrator login.

So here is how you can reset your password:

  1. Restart your PC
  2. When it asks for login and password, Just write Administrator in it and hit enter and it will Login to Windows.
  3. After that you will be logged on to Windows and then you can change the passwords by going into Control Panel > User Accounts.

But what if your Administrator password ? Well in that case you still dont have to worry. You can still reset your password.

  1. Restart your Pc
  2. Press F8 before the Windows boot Screen appears
  3. You will be prompted to the boot menu option, Select Safe Mode and hit Enter
  4. It will log you on to the windows and then Click Start > Run
  5. Type “control userpasswords2” and Click Ok.
  6. Click on the account you forgot the password for and select the reset option. Change the Password and you are good to go. :)

Hope this helped
