Microsoft Silverlight 2 Beta 2 Released

Finally Microsoft released the Beta 2 version of Silverlight 2. Actually, Silverlight 2 is a cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device plug-in for delivering the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web.

At the moment, Microsoft SIlverlight Beta 2 is available for

  • Internet Explorer 7 on Vista and XP SP2
  • Internet Explorer 6 on XP SP2 and Windows 2000
  • Firefox 2 on Vista and XP SP2
  • Firefox 1.5 on Vista and XP SP2
  • Safari on Mac OS 10.4.8+ (Intel-based)

The new features that are added in Silverlight Beta 2 are:

  • Improved Template Model
  • Including controls in the runtime instead of packaged in the app package
  • Upload support
  • Duplex communication
  • Silverlight DRM streaming content
